An OEM from the Southeast who provides Bearing Systems to the oil and gas market contacted ASG because of our experience in building both complex electrical controls and hazardous rated cable assemblies. Due to the downturn in the market, this OEM had reduced many internal resources and was forced to find a partner with the skill set to manufacture their R&D prototype system.

The project started out in phases where ASG codesigned the mechanical structure and laid out the electrical power distribution resulting in a multiple enclosure design arranged in a back-to-back layout with a custom plinth base and a special top box for cooling. The project design had to meet both NEC and European CE certification as the unit was going overseas.

After three months of weekly conference calls involving design reviews, changes, and manufacturing updates, ASG shipped 3 Bearing Control Systems and Junction-boxes with explosion proof cables while meeting project deadlines. Because of the success of the project this OEM has since awarded ASG a second R&D project integrating the use of a unique water-cooled variable frequency drive to control their system. Production units are expected to be delivered in the second half of 2022.
